Tim by Cole Parker

by Daniel 18. February 2010 22:49

Cole Parker writes wonderfully.  This tale in 28 chapters is told by Tim, a withdrawn and unhappy sixteen year old boy, new to his school and with an apparently traumatic history in the town he and his father have moved from. Befriended by a kind and perceptive age-mate at school, Tim eventually risks lowering his guard and revealing the disturbing events that have so affected him and made him so wary of the care of others.

Tim's voice and concerns feel real and genuine and often humourous.  His friends and his family are authentic and believeable throughout both good and bad times. The story as a whole raises issues and reflects Cole Parker's patient and essentially positive view of the lives of young people.

About this site

I've read a lot of stories about gay boys at school or of school age.  Some have a lot of sex in, some don't.  The thing I enjoy most is when the story is well written and written in such a way that I care about the protagonists.  Some may tell you something new, some remind you of your own experience.

Some will surprise or even shock.  I like every story I list on this site.  I think they are all worth reading and my thanks go out to all the authors who have so freely shared their talents and imagination with others.

All bar a couple of the stories listed here are complete.  Those that are not probably never will be and finished at a point that leaves a story worth reading.
